Impromptu (NL) & Alligator Mouth (US)
Under the influence #2
Gesture is movement; sound is music; word is story. Spontaneous chain reactions draw eight theatre improvisers together to create the images, soundscapes, texts, dances and songs for a single shared story. The latest of Impromptu’s Under the Influence series.
In a one-of-a-kind instant theatre composition experiment, local mavericks Impromptu are inviting Alligator Mouth Improv, a free-form improv group from upstate New York, to co-create a unique performance. Both groups are reinventing improv theatre with every performance; now, each will push the other’s performance concepts to the edge to find new ways to tell a story using text, poetry, dance, movement and music.
Alligator Mouth (Rhonda Morton, Peter Chwazik, Amber Espar, and Sean Lukasik) is a multidisciplinary improvisation ensemble based in upstate New York. Uniquely for the US, Alligator Mouth draw continuously on movement, vocals, music, poetry, and video.
Impromptu (Ralph de Rijke, Hans Kuykens, Grainne Delaney and Hannah Borst) is an Amsterdam-based music improv theatre group that has built an international reputation with a decade of ground-breaking work to bring music, sound and movement to centre stage in improv theatre.
